Does every ADU require a Title 24 report?

Yes. In California, a Title 24 CF1R energy compliance report is required for building permits on all ADU types — detached, attached, garage conversion, and JADU. The scope of the report varies by project type.

What documents do I need to submit?

Floor plan with dimensions, site plan showing orientation (north arrow), window schedule (sizes and locations), and wall/roof assembly details. If you have a full plan set, that works too. We review everything before starting.

Does a JADU need the same report as a detached ADU?

No. A JADU (Junior ADU) carved out of existing conditioned space typically has a narrower compliance scope since it shares the primary residence’s envelope and mechanical systems. We confirm the exact scope for every project.

Do garage conversions require all-electric systems?

It depends on what’s being added. If the conversion adds new HVAC or water heating, the 2025 Energy Code may require all-electric equipment. We review your plans and confirm what applies before generating the report.
